December Gratitude
An author update
Today’s post is one of gratitude and reflection. In the last ten years I’ve been privileged to publish three novels, and two essays in wonderful anthologies from two writing communities of women that have brought me treasured friends and colleagues.
In this year alone, I got to celebrate my mother’s 100th birthday (read a previous appreciation of her here.), publish Isabela’s Way, and welcome our granddaughter Chloe to our home for her last two years of high school.— important sources of joy which have helped offset the relentless horrors of the wider world.
On the topic of joy and gratitude, I want to thank all of you for the incredible support I’ve gotten, particularly in this last year bringing Isabela to publication. Your notes, your reviews, your book purchases, your invitations to book groups and arranging for me to come to your communities are what make all the hard work of writing a book worthwhile. Thank you, Thank you! And I wish you all a warm and peaceful holiday.
I’ve enjoyed doing podcasts this fall. Two especially interesting ones for me were A Conversation with Carl, and Art in Fiction with Carol Cram.
If you’re still looking for holiday ideas for gifts or good reads, consider one of my novels! And just in time for the dark days of winter, consider the just-published volume, Real Women Write- In the Garden from Story Circle Network. “Stories, essays and poetry exploring the literal and symbolic landscapes of memory, imagination, and transformation.” My essay is titled “All the Gardeners I Am.”
After lots of travel in the fall, my winter book events are closer to home.
Please join January 11, 2:30 pm for a talk with Jewish Family Services on Refugees and Refuge and Isabela’s Way
